So, How can you make money, buying from Aliexpress and Selling it somewhere else?

This method needs investment and a place to keep the goods. You will also need to have a local logistics service available (for delivery purposes).

  1. Choose a product. Preferably under $20.
  2. Contact the seller on Aliexpress or Alibaba.
  3. Keeping in mind the population of your city, order 50 to 100 pieces of it.
  4. Take the delivery. (100 * $20 = $2000 Invested)
  5. Put a newspaper ad with a nice product image and contact number. Price the product at $25 — $30.
  6. People will start calling, write down the address and send them delivery.
  7. End of the day, you will surely count profits.

This is how you sell it in your own place or country.

#2 Get Order, Place Order (Drop-Ship).

This method is different from #1 and requires very less amount of investment.

  1. Choose a product and create a cool e-commerce store with those products. (For an example, here is a site created by a friend of mine. World Of Harry — )
  2. Advertise your store on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
  3. People will place orders, pay the money.
  4. You place the orders at Aliexpress with that address and little of the money received.
  5. Profits!

This second method is very profitable and is very easy to start with.

  1. Contact the seller and decide on a price.
  2. Use the mobile app for more discounts.
  3. You can pay for all the orders later. (on credit)

The beautiful thing about selling products from AliExpress is that you don’t have to buy any inventory beforehand. You buy the items as you sell them, shipping straight to your customer’s house.

This is known as dropshipping.

Many countries have trade deals with China that subsidize ePacket shipping, which is why dropshipping is so profitable. You will want to be sure that the country you are targeting also benefits from free/cheap shipping.

The product selection can vary from country to country too, so be cognizant of that.

If your country does not benefit from cheap shipping and wide product selection, sell to one that does (like the United States).

The key to any dropshipping project lies in perceived value.

In marketing, this is known as positioning.

You see, product quality doesn’t always vary much by price point. It’s all just a game of perceived value.

Most products and services are super cheap to make. And because 90% of manufacturers are making the same stuff, they can’t mark their products up very much or they will be priced out of the market.

Everyone said the internet would drive costs down, and prices would fall with them.

Price is a key indicator of quality in the consumer’s eyes.

Price too low and they think your product is no good. Price too high and your product is of superior quality, but doesn’t fit their socio-economic standing. Maybe they will ask Santa to bring it for Christmas.

The key here is alignment. If you want to be cheap and high-volume, make the product look cheap, price it cheap, and market to low-budget audiences.

If you want to go high-end with the same product— make sure the website and other marketing aligns with the price.

Now, if you visit AliExpress or DHGate you will want to use broad search terms, and sort the product listings by ‘orders’ so you know what the proven products are.

The first thing you will notice is that the products look like total shit.

Sometimes that’s true, but most of the time, that’s where us marketers come in.

We find these generic products, scour through reviews across the web, and order samples of our own to check the quality.

If everything checks out, we take it upon ourselves to craft a whole new perception with a product website, new sales copy, attractive product images, etc.

All of a sudden, you’ve got an item that costs you $5 on AliExpress that you can now sell for $29.

All we are doing is taking products being positioned as ‘cheap’ to low-budget audiences on AliExpress, then re-marketing as mid-market or high-end.

Mid-market is easier, as you don’t need the iconic, been-around brand so much. But, it’s still easy to align your marketing with your target audiences interests.

Here are some product ideas. Some are great as initial, stand-alone products; while others work well as upsells for later.

You can dropship all of them. I’ve been compiling them, but I may as well share because I will never get around to selling all of them.

Many people get stuck trying to find a product.

You will never find a perfect product. All you can do is hypothesize, test, and adjust accordingly.

When you have no experience to work off of, you can’t let yourself get stuck trying to make perfect decisions. You don’t have the context to make perfect decisions, anyways. Move fast, break things, earn that experience and context.

Here are a couple tools for finding product ideas…

  • Pexda. Made by a couple veteran dropshippers. They share the products that work for them, as well as the ad copy.
  • Salehoo. Massive directory of dropshipping suppliers and product data. Good for finding American suppliers if you’re concerned about shipping times (don’t be).

Two key things here:

  • $29 is the perfect price point. Few people are scared of spending $29 on a website they aren’t familiar with. I’ve seen some people succeed up to $49, but I wouldn’t go lower. Otherwise, advertising will eat your profits up.
  • Don’t go building a whole damn store. One product for now. Expand your product line after a bit of success, selling new, similar products to previous customers.

You will need some infrastructure to sell your product(s) with. Sites like Amazon and eBay are mostly for targeting the budget consumers, or for selling existing brands. Again, we want control of how consumers see our product, and we want their perception to align with the price point.

In a world where authenticity is hard to find, people are searching for brands that aligns with their values and gives them a sense of belonging. Help them feel like part of that.

An elegant, one page website will do the trick. One page to sell, a ‘buy now’ button, and your typical cart/checkout functionality.

There are tens of thousands of free or cheap themes to help you craft the look you want.

If you’re willing to invest a little bit of cash, I like the ProLand theme ($49).

This is really easy to set-up with WordPress using their free WooCommerce plug-in. You just set-up a hosting account with a hosting provider, then upload the theme you want or find it and click ‘install’.

You can follow my free, step-by-step tutorial here ( I use the Zerif Lite theme in these videos, which is free). I show you how to get your site on the internet, design it, add e-commerce functionality, get a .com domain name…. everything. No coding necessary.

If you’ve never built a website before, this can be somewhat challenging. I’m more than happy to answer questions on slack ( link ).

After you have things on your website looking the way you want, I recommend using Ryviu to import Amazon or AliExpress reviews to your store for social proof.

If you’ve never built a website before, this step will take some time.

Be patient. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Learn the ins and outs. You will be better off in the long-run.

Once your site is ready, it’s time to promote your product.

Remember, consumers are looking for brands that align with their values, and recommendations from trusted sources.

Consequently, my favorite way to market in 2018 is by partnering with social media ‘influencers’. Also known as influencer marketing.

People with substantial followings, who have the trust and attention of the people I want to get my product in front of.

There are lots of platforms out there that make it easy to connect with the right influencers. Google ‘influencer platform’ and you will find a ton. Most will charge a subscription fee in addition to the cost of shout outs.

If you’re on a budget, you could use Shoutcart to pay only for the shout outs.

Or you can do it the old-fashioned way— scour through instagram, YouTube, facebook, Twitter, etc to find the right ones yourself.

Ask yourself, ‘Who wants this product?’ ‘Who do these people trust and/or want to be like?’ ‘Who introduces my audience all the stuff they go buy?’

Then go strike a deal with those influencers.

Be careful… just because people have high follower counts doesn’t mean they are a good investment. People do buy fake followers.

Look at the engagement on their posts… number of likes… how do the comments read?

DM them and strike a deal.

Pay the ones that create a large ROI for you a few more times… many users will see the first post, think ‘i want that’, then move on with their day.

You want to hit the right audiences multiple times. People need to think about your brand/product 5 times on average before they will purchase.

Funny thing about influencers… these ‘strangers on the internet’ actually have more influence on purchasing decisions than any other purchasing factor.

Kobe Gatsby is really good at this. He only started a couple months ago and he’s doing 5–10 sales every day. Definitely one of the faster successes I have seen of all the people I have taught. The guy gets it.

Most things are incredibly cheap in China compared to prices in Europe and America. The prices are even cheaper if you buy big bulk products directly from the factory produces. How big the price difference is from Western prices, depends on which products it is, but the price in China is somewhere between 1/5-1/10. That makes it quite profitable to buy or import from China.

For example, you can buy t-shirts for between 1-8$, you can buy jewelry for 1-10$, pashmina scarves 2-5$ , lego 1/2-1$, children’s shoes 3-6$, lamps 8-16$, bicycles 70-100$, wetsuit 30-50$ etc.

Be sure to get samples and talk with the factory about the desired quality, so you’re sure to get what you want and what you pay for.

You will often see some negative Aliexpress reviews because there are some unethical sellers who either send bad products or do not send anything at all.
